I don’t often rave about makeup. I am always torn between aiming for the natural look which I can never seem to recreate by caking on loads of makeup. I struggle with my skin and have acne issues and find most makeup wears off quickly. But my biggest issue of them all is mascara. I have very short and very light lashes. I will never EVER leave the house without wearing mascara but I was yet to find one that I would actually declare as THE mascara that made me feel gorgeous and dare I say it felt life-altering! Until now! The Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash mascara is just that!

As pathetic as it sounds one of my biggest concerns over the last couple of months has been my hair – 1st world problems right?! It’s a small issue really but I figured I also can’t be the only person struggling with this! And my hair is a bit of a touchy subject for me!
I used to have really long hair and have since been trying to regrow it from a bob back down to my waist. 2 years on it’s not getting much beyond my shoulders. The problem isn’t my diet it’s down to exercise. For the last 18 months I have exercised pretty much every day, this means I sweat and that means I need to wash my hair daily. And as we all know that’s not good 🙁 that combined with living in England (AKA the land of damp and drizzle = frizzy hair) means that I have to blow dry my hair daily, and having naturally wavy crazy colour treated (and probably damaged) hair I have to straighten it afterwards to make myself somewhat presentable! You can only imagine how much damage all of this washing and heating is doing to my hair. Like I said it seems like such a small problem but it’s hard not to fixate on something that upsets you, and I have spent HOURS searching the internet trying to break the back of this and eureka I think I am finding some solutions! And I thought I would share my discoveries with you all!
So the other weekend we got invited to a wedding in Ireland and I was given the dreaded news that the flight tickets we’d booked didn’t include hold luggage. So as well as having to narrow down my outfit choices I was now under the strict instruction of 10 liquid items of less than 100ml each 😛 This had to include hair lotions and potions, shampoos, conditioners, foundation, primer….the list is endless. However I am very proud to report that this girl done good! I had everything I needed and more and I didn’t need help carrying my suitcase! It’s given me a helping hand for packing for my next trip to Mexico this week, because I now know that I don’t need to bring everything I own! The essentials make it a lot easier and I didn’t want for anything!
So here are my top products that made the cut!
Now I’m a little bit naughty and sometimes I let life get in the way of me following a strict beauty and pampering routine. Which is really daft, I spend so much time making my body look the way I want it to and making sure I am healthy from the inside but sometimes I don’t really look after the outside 🙁 So I like to use going away on holiday as a way to jump start my beauty regime and try and keep it going for as long as I can. The thing I’ve found this year is that I can do a lot of the treatments myself whereas before I was a bit too anxious about trying to dye my own eyebrows etc. But you really can save a tonne of money doing a lot of stuff yourself and then you can treat yourself to the bits you really want to 🙂 So here are my top pre-holiday beautifying products and how I use them!
I’ll have to admit that I fell on to using L’Occitane’s shampoo completely by accident, because there is no way I was going to fork out a load of money on a shampoo I had never tried or heard good reviews about, and I hold my hands up and completely agree that this shampoo is expensive and was in two minds as to whether or not I should write about it, because of it’s price and it doesn’t really fit my ethos. But after going back and forth I have decided to write my review and let you guys decide whether it’s worth the £16 or not!! Here are my thoughts on why I am considering spending so much money on a shampoo!
When I first started taking my exercising seriously and doing it every day the ONE thing that really irritated me was having to wash my hair every day too. All that sweating meant that even dry shampoo wouldn’t tide me over and was wreaking havoc on my tresses! I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect shampoo and conditioner and now I’ve definitely found it and wanted to share this good news with all of you!!
As someone blessed with thick hair it is prone to frizzing so I hate having to blow dry it and doing that on a daily basis just wasn’t working so I popped to the shops and purchased L’Oreal Ever Sleek and Ever Riche combo for dry overworked hair.
This range has no sulphates so it means that I am doing minimal damage to my hair because sulphates are basically detergents used in cleaning products, it strips the colour for your hair and isn’t really needed in the shampoo, it’s only added to make it foam more so it makes you feel like you’re getting a good lather but it’s actually doing more damage than good.
This shampoo and conditioner have been a god send! I apply the shampoo at the roots and all over the scalp and then I only condition my hair from the nape of my neck down to the tips. Then I either wrap it in a towel and let it dry naturally or I will do 2 dutch braids in pigtails to let it dry overnight and then I wake up with lustrous frizz free beachy curls! I couldn’t recommend this enough and wouldn’t used anything else!
