I wanted to recap on a post I did in 2014 because I think this is really important for those who are kick starting their healthy eating regime. Here’s a link to my post about how to eat healthy on a budget and about planning for your week ahead. Setting aside 10 – 15 minutes one evening a week can make a HUGE impact on your healthy eating during the whole week.
A few extra things to bear in mind are what days / evenings are going to be busy during your week ahead? When do you need a fast food alternative? Can you use your slow cooker on those days? If you don’t have a slow cooker – get one!! It is the best thing I’ve ever owned and has been a life saver because all you have to do is fling all of the ingredients in a pot and either cook it overnight and reheat for dinner the next evening or turn it on to cook whilst you are at work or out during the day.
Another thing to consider is what is already in your fridge / pantry that you can utilise? How any people do you need to have meals for? How many meals do you need to prep for? Can you cook bigger portions and put in tupperware containers to have later on during the week for lunch or dinner? And finally what do you fancy? When it’s winter for example I want stews and soups and hearty warming meals, the last thing I want is a chilled salad!
And finally change the way you use the word diet. Most people use this as a word to describe the restrictions on food. Everyone single person who eats food whether it is healthy or bad they are eating a diet. Diet is a word for what you eat and is not a negative word, and there is nothing negative about the food I recommend eating! I quite often eat steak and homemade sweet potato fries and at no point am I sobbing into my plate complaining about how awful my diet is!! My “diet” is a lifestyle and because of the positivity associated with it, it enables me to maintain it quite easily.
This is the biggest change you’ll make, but I can honestly say this is the most exciting! 1 year ago I couldn’t boil an egg and now I am experimenting with all sorts!! 80% of abs are made in the kitchen so once you get this part sorted the rest will be a breeze!
