Festival Style

What’s your festival style? So my work has decided to have a summer conference and we are all going glamping in Glastonbury and I have to get my festival style nailed! Knowing what my festival style isn’t the issue what I’m struggling to contend with is this miserable British weather we’re having! Yesterday was a glorious summers day reaching around 27ºC, however today as I am writing this post we’ve had non stop rain and I’m hunkered down on the sofa wearing a hoody and wrapped in a blanket like it’s a cold winters day! Seriously?! It’s ridiculous! So bearing in mind that my glamping festival trip will only last 3 days and 2 nights I am having to pack a capsule wardrobe to cover my festival style for every eventuality!

So here’s how I have turned 3 pairs of shoes, 2 tops, 1 shirt, 2 dresses, 1 pair of shorts and 1 cardigan and 1 pair of jeans in to countless outfits to suit any type of weather.

Primark Festival Dress

Primark Festival Dress As a girl on a budget I love nothing more than a bargain and this Primark Festival Dress is the ULTIMATE bargain!

I have to admit Primark sometimes frightens me, it can get a little bit frantic and there are clothes all over the floor and people scrambling around for bargains and I feel like I am in a war zone where it’s every man for themselves! However, sometimes I am very brave and venture into the breach in order to bag myself a bargain and this Primark Festival Dress was well worth the stress!

Primark Festival Dress At only £10, this dress had to be purchased. I really love the print detail across the fabric with the hem and sleeve red patterned detail which adds a great pop of colour and makes it so much more flattering. I have a couple of parties and a mini festival to attend this summer and the Primark Festival Dress is on the top of my list for getting packed! So far I’ve teemed it with my Bertie chunky sandals and my new favourite French Connection strappy emerald heels. I am also keen to try it out with a pair of flats and a top thrown over the top to make it layered as a top and skirt combo with the funky hem line and sleeves showing. I love a dress that is versatile enough to be worn for different occasions and to get layered up. A capsule wardrobe is an absolute must for me!

Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt

Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini SkirtMy absolute latest obsession – and it’s a bit of a mouthful – is my Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt. I have been wearing this with pretty much everything and anything. It’s one of those key pieces where I’ve had so many compliments about it and everyone is always really surprised when I tell them it’s from Superdry. So what is so great about the Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt? It’s got an a-line shape so is really flattering on the thighs and it makes it a comfortable fit. The denim blue base colour makes it easy to dress up or down, I have worn this on a night out with some killerSuperdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt heels as well as with my comfy moccasins for laid back day time feel. And the brightly coloured aztec / folk stitch pattern means you can pair it with so many different coloured clothes. I’ve been wearing mine with some French Connection emerald coloured shoes and the colour pop makes it a great outfit for the summer.

I’ve also been styling it with my Primark denim shirt, a plain tee and my converse sneakers for the ultimate laidback look. I am honestly struggling to find something that I can’t wear it with!

Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt

I plan to take the Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt through to my winter wardrobe by wearing it with thick black tights and either some Chelsea boots or a pair of brogues. This is one of few skirts that I feel comfortable wearing with flats, because the shape of the skirt is so flattering I don’t feel the need to wear heels to lengthen my legs and for a mini skirt I don’t feel too daring and baring in it.

So if I can recommend one item for your festival wardrobe which you can take through to the winter it’s got to be the Superdry Multi Folk Stitch Mini Skirt!

Metallic Temporary Tattoos

Tesora London – Topaz Collection

For a while now I have been desperate to get my little mitts on some of these jewellery temporary tattoos! I’ve been desperately waiting for the sun to put its hat on so I could come out to play! And thankfully this weekend and Tesora London’s temporary tattoos did not disappoint!

I got my fake tan on so I could get ready to bare my limbs in public and what a perfect opportunity to try out these gorgeous gold, silver and turquoise coloured temporary tats!

The first thing people tend to think of when you mention transfer tattoos is when you were a kid and you were on the summer holidays and your parents would let you wear your mickey mouse transfer tattoos! Well the excitement is probably about the same if not more but these are definitely more glamorous and grown up!

Breo Axis Watch Review

breo axis watch reviewAt last!!! I have finally found a chunky watch that fits my tiny wrists!! I have lived my adult life never being able to find a chunky watch or boyfriend style watch that doesn’t make me look like a child playing dress up!! I love the Breo Axis Watch so much that I couldn’t not give it a raving review, but I think the fact that I have had so many compliments about these watches speaks for itself! My very basic review of the Breo Axis watch is that it goes with everything, and can easily take you from day to night and doesn’t look out of place. But read on for my full review of the watches.

Rocking The Boyfriend Look

Superdry Boyfriend JeansAfter years of battling with the skinny jeans dilemma – in that they NEVER used to fit me – I then became obsessed with them and wouldn’t stop wearing them because I could finally show off my brand new, hard earned fitter self. So as my obsession grew so did my skinny jeans collection and then lo and behold my wardrobe consisted of nothing but skinny jeans and leggings! I have finally broken out of the pattern and have purchased a pair of boyfriend jeans! I am definitely one of those people who buys a new item of clothing and wants to wear it constantly and I am totally feeling that way about these ripped Superdry boyfriend jeans and my jofi hidden wedge trainers! My brother calls me Tulisa when I wear this get up and asks me if I’m going to be performing in a hip hop music video but what do boys know about fashion?!

They definitely took a while to get used to after spending the last year and a half in skin tight fitted clothes, but I love how versatile they are. They look equally as cute paired with a fitted tee and flip flops or pumps. I think the key to pulling off the baggy jeans look is to wear them with cropped tops or fitted tops to make sure you don’t look swamped by clothes and for us shorties wearing them with heels is a great way to stop your legs looking shorter! Keep it casual with hidden wedge trainers and limit the accessories.

Younique Makeup Review

Younique 3D Moodstruck Fiber Fibre Lash Mascara Review

Younique Moodstruck 3d Fibre Lash Mascara – Left Eye Before / Right Eye After

I don’t often rave about makeup. I am always torn between aiming for the natural look which I can never seem to recreate by caking on loads of makeup. I struggle with my skin and have acne issues and find most makeup wears off quickly. But my biggest issue of them all is mascara. I have very short and very light lashes. I will never EVER leave the house without wearing mascara but I was yet to find one that I would actually declare as THE mascara that made me feel gorgeous and dare I say it felt life-altering! Until now! The Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash mascara is just that!

How To Make Your Hair Grow

thick volume hair

short hairLast month I wrote about my hair dilemma and I know you’ve all be waiting with baited breath to see how I am getting on in this difficult times! OK so I may be being a tad dramatic but your hair is the crown that you never take off so you need to try and make it as glorious and fantastic as possible! the photo on the left shows my hair after being blow dried today, the photo on the left shows my hair after being blow dried 1 month ago. There is obviously very little difference in the length, but it’s easy to see the difference in volume and texture!

So last month’s test was using the Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight , which felt and smelt lovely! This month I have upped my game! Here’s what I’ve been doing and I think I’ve finally hit on my solution and don’t plan on changing my routine for the foreseeable future. Why not give some of these tips a go yourself:  (more…)

1st world problems – my hair is a disaster!

Blond hair. Portrait of beautiful Blonde with Long Wavy Hair.As pathetic as it sounds one of my biggest concerns over the last couple of months has been my hair – 1st world problems right?! It’s a small issue really but I figured I also can’t be the only person struggling with this! And my hair is a bit of a touchy subject for me!

I used to have really long hair and have since been trying to regrow it from a bob back down to my waist. 2 years on it’s not getting much beyond my shoulders. The problem isn’t my diet it’s down to exercise. For the last 18 months I have exercised pretty much every day, this means I sweat and that means I need to wash my hair daily. And as we all know that’s not good 🙁 that combined with living in England (AKA the land of damp and drizzle = frizzy hair) means that I have to blow dry my hair daily, and having naturally wavy crazy colour treated (and probably damaged) hair I have to straighten it afterwards to make myself somewhat presentable! You can only imagine how much damage all of this washing and heating is doing to my hair. Like I said it seems like such a small problem but it’s hard not to fixate on something that upsets you, and I have spent HOURS searching the internet trying to break the back of this and eureka I think I am finding some solutions! And I thought I would share my discoveries with you all!
